Overview of the prime central London property market 2017
2017 was not an easy year for the central London residential property market.
Taxation, we still believe, was the major deterrent for people to either move into the market, or move within it.
Brexit certainly didn’t help, if for no other reason than just to cause uncertainty. A snap general election added to the mix!
Sterling’s reduction in value against the dollar certainly helped the market to a degree and there were some pretty impressive transactions done throughout the year where undoubtedly the buyer was taking advantage of the currency swing in their favour.
Although Brexit is still to a degree an unknown, we do expect/hope that 2018 will be a more positive year for the central London market. There were certainly glimmers of hope at the end of 2017.
Again, as last year, we attach the “LonRes Residential Review Winter 2018”. We believe their market analysis is the best there is and gives the most accurate resume of 2017.
